Since the age of ten I have had an obsession with the idea of a trip to Napa after watching The Parent Trap two dozen times. When I became a photographer that dream transformed into the dream of photographing a vineyard wedding in Napa and just a few weeks ago that dream came true. Amanda, a business owner who runs a business for female entrepreneurs “She Did It her Way” and travels the world like a champion, contacted me a year ago. She sent over her mind blowing wedding website designed by her very own groom, Mike. I learned all about the couple and came to find that Mike proposed to her after they went skydiving and that is when the planning began. After our 3rd email back and forth I knew we were in for a good party.
V. Sattui Winery was the backdrop of from something out of a fairytale. When I arrived, the Napa landscape was better than I could have imagined it and everything I had hoped it would be. Mike and Amanda may have been one of the most chill, calm, and fun couples I’ve worked with to date. We started at a private home hidden between the grape leaves and made our way to the winery with a twinkle light filled ceremony. We ventured around the grounds with the twenty two person bridal party. To kick off their reception Amanda and Mike danced into their wine barrel lined reception room and broke into what was absolutely the most fantastic first dance I have seen in all 100+ weddings I have photographed. I was told later that evening that Mike was a very experienced ballroom dancer which explained why I was watching a Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers replay with my jaw on the floor. The entire evening was filled with speeches, personalized music videos, slideshows, and full blown dancing. I couldn’t have asked for a better setting, party, or more wiling couple.
Mike and Amanda, thank you for making one of my dreams come true. I can only hope to return to Napa again with another wedding as gorgeous and fun as yours! Congratulations Mr + Mrs.Sallander!
